Opportunities in the African Energy Sector are presented and discussed in this year’s Africa Energy Indaba Conference (AEI 2022).
Managing Director Mr Volker Werth, together with the head of Swiss Business Hub Southern Africa, Mr Daniel Schneider attended day 1 of the 2022 Africa Energy Indaba Conference in Cape Town, South Africa.
The conference includes the 14th Africa Energy Indaba Virtual Conference and the 7th Annual Africa Gas Forum which is taking place from 1 to 3 March 2022.
The attendees are delegates from all continents and a unique combination of industry experts, project developers, financiers, energy users, government representatives and manufacturers. The most well represented industry sectors in this years’ conference include Renewable Energy (Solar, Wind, Wave, etc.), Oil & Natural Gas, Energy Storage, Energy Efficiency & Metering, Utilities & Regulators, Petroleum as well as Energy Corporations & Consulting. Renewable Energies represent by far the largest share of attendees with about 57% of attendees being from the sector.
African Energy sector to be revolutionised
The 2022 AEI includes debates and seeks solutions for appropriate energy production across Africa. Participants of the conference are provided with a platform for networking, engagement, and deal-making. It is seen as a revolutionary event for the African energy sector and the regional economy.
The conference prioritises Africa’s position in the global energy transition debate and facilitates a dialogue on the continent’s progress towards developing and investing in Renewable Energies. The City of Cape Town has started an official partnership with AEI 2022 to provide strong support for the continent’s most important energy sector event. Cape Town aims to become a climate resilient, resource efficient and low carbon city and has already seen great improvement in reducing emissions and promoting renewable energy to enable sustainable and inclusive economic and social development as well as environmental sustainability.
